2016 The Celebrity Weekend
The Lenny Wilkens Celebrity Weekend 2016 was a huge success! Kicking off the two-day event at the Bellevue Hyatt Regency Ballroom, our annual auction raised well over $550,000 – a new record. A guitar signed by Pearl Jam, dinners with Coach Wilkens and a meet and greet with Jamal Crawford were among the most valued auction items. We also took the opportunity to honor the passing of basketball great Meadowlark Lemon, dear friend of Lenny and one of the sport’s most beloved figures. He will be deeply missed. It was a beautiful evening filled with emotion.
On Sunday we took to the Newcastle Golf Club links, where beautiful weather and a little friendly competition provided a fun and memorable experience for all.
Fundraising events such as this are among the most important sources of funding for the Lenny Wilkens Foundation, and the help they provide for kids in need is truly profound. Big thanks to our board of directors and everyone who attended and donated.
